GIS Data Analyst

The GIS Analyst - Fire Data (Data Management Analyst) is a key role within APS, responsible for compiling, analyzing, and reporting on various statistical and fire mitigation modeling data related to Business Unit and/or department operations and effectiveness. This position leverages specialized data to support critical management and operational decision making.
Key Responsibilities- Perform various operations, performance, cost, and/or specialized data analysis to identify trends and operations issues. Reconcile data and develop explanations of variances as necessary.
- Develop or assist in the development and maintenance of internal database systems to support the tracking and reporting on company operations and performance measures, costs, and/or other specialized data.
- Collaborate with multiple departments to coordinate the interface of data from different systems and the development of reporting and analysis for management and other internal and external stakeholders.
- Monitor and extract data on key operations and performance measures using various external and internal data sources.
- Develop and produce a variety of monthly and annual reports.
- Based on interdepartmental needs, utilize software tools to integrate datasets and devices/equipment into the energy management system.
- Track and trend data, errors, health of various systems, to evaluate and proactively correct system deficiencies before they worsen and become system limitations.
- Collaborate with multiple departments to provide a good level of internal customer support.
Bachelor's degree in Business, Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Computer Science, Math, or related field and two (2) years of experience in performance statistics, power cost factors, electric transmission/distribution/plant operations, analytics, and/or data science. In lieu of degree, high school diploma/GED and six (6) years of experience in performance statistics, power cost factors, electric transmission/distribution/plant operations, analytics, and/or data science.
Preferred knowledge of descriptive statistics and forecasting techniques, energy system operations and maintenance factors, energy performance statistics and energy production cost factors. Proficiency with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and ArcGIS Online web map/app/dashboard development and management. Knowledge of scripting, database management and various SQL, API, and spatial query methods. Microsoft Office suite including Excel, Teams, etc. Experience with data science and data analytics. Technical knowledge of electric utility operations, as well as APS computer systems including Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) and utility terminology, symbols and schematics. Strong written and oral communication skills. Strong organizational and presentation skills. Demonstrate good time management and the ability to manage several projects/tasks at once and have the flexibility to accomplish them.
