Position Overview: The Gastroenterology and Hepatology Unit (G100) specializes in managing complex cases involving conditions such as GI Bleeds, Pancreatitis, Liver Failure, Multi-Organ Failure, Pre-Transplant, Crohn's Disease, and Gastroparesis. Our dedicated nursing staff is committed to delivering the highest quality of care, ensuring a patient-to-staff ratio that never exceeds six patients per caregiver.
Work Environment: G100 fosters a collaborative and positive culture, with daily huddles at 7 AM for both shifts to promote teamwork and communication. Experienced nurses are encouraged to mentor new staff, creating an environment of continuous learning and professional growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver direct nursing care to patients.
- Develop, implement, and revise patient care plans.
- Monitor and document patient conditions accurately.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Execute physician and nursing orders effectively.
- Assess discharge needs and coordinate patient transitions.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding care and treatment.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
- At least one year of recent acute care RN experience, including military experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Certifications Required:
- Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN).
- Proof of BLS certification from AHA upon hire.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification may be required for critical care areas.
Work Complexity:
- Requires strong critical thinking skills and the ability to work independently.
- Must manage stress effectively and respond appropriately in high-pressure situations.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to perform a full range of motion, including lifting and handling patients.
- Requires prolonged standing and walking.
- Vision and hearing must be corrected to normal ranges.
- Exposure to potentially infectious materials and body fluids.
- Medium work capacity, requiring the ability to exert 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally.
