Job Summary

Corning Incorporated is seeking a talented Development Engineer Co-Op to join our Optical Communications segment. As a key member of our team, you will support technology development in the telecommunications field by applying engineering principles to design, build, and evaluate prototype products.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and develop new components and assemblies using 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Prototype and evaluate new components and assemblies to ensure they meet project requirements.
  • Coordinate and plan experiments to support assigned projects, analyzing results using statistical tools as needed.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional project teams to solve problems efficiently and effectively.
  • Lead small projects and manage priorities and timelines to achieve objectives.
  • Prepare oral and written reports to summarize test results and key conclusions for technical audiences.
Requirements
  • Enrolled in a BS or MS program in an engineering discipline (Mechanical or Industrial).
  • Coursework completed to include first and second year engineering studies.
  • CAD design software proficiency.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Results-oriented and able to work effectively in a team environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using Creo or Unigraphics NX CAD software.
  • Hands-on laboratory experience using lathe, mill, and assorted hand tools.
  • Experience with PLM software such as Windchill or eNovia.
