Job Summary:

Comanche County Memorial Hospital is seeking a motivated and compassionate individual to join our team as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) through our training and employment program.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist with non-nursing tasks, including bed-making, passing water/ice, answering call lights, and gathering supplies.
  • Collect data and report any unexpected findings to the charge nurse.
  • Provide support to the nursing department under the direction of the charge nurse.

Education and Training:

  • Preferred High School Diploma
  • Completion of the CNA training program, which includes approximately 120 hours of instruction and clinical skills observation.

Program Details:

  • The program will be offered 4 times a year.
  • Successful candidates will have immediate job placement at Comanche County Memorial Hospital.
  • The curriculum will consist of the following modules:
  • Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Develop effective communication and interpersonal skills to interact with residents, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Infection Control: Learn and apply infection control practices to prevent the spread of infections in the healthcare setting.
  • Safety and Emergency Procedures: Understand and respond to emergency situations, including the Heimlich maneuver.
  • Promoting Residents' Independence: Assist residents in maintaining their independence and autonomy.
  • Respecting Residents' Rights: Understand and respect residents' rights and dignity.
  • Basic Nursing Skills: Develop basic nursing skills, including vital sign measurement and medication administration.
  • Personal Care Skills: Learn and apply personal care skills, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.
  • Mental Health and Social Service Needs: Understand and respond to residents' mental health and social service needs.
  • Care of Cognitively Impaired Residents: Develop skills to care for residents with cognitive impairments.
  • Basic Restorative Services: Learn and apply basic restorative services, including range of motion exercises and transfers.
