Job Summary

As a key member of our facilities support team, you will be responsible for operating and maintaining our building automation systems, ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our mechanical systems.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and Control Mechanical Systems: Monitor and control the operation of all mechanical systems equipment, including distribution systems, furnaces, boilers, hot water tanks, ventilation equipment, lab equipment, motors, pumps, valves, compressors, air conditioners, and related environmental equipment.
  • Perform Preventive Maintenance: Perform preventive/predictive maintenance on the facilities support systems, including HVAC equipment, to ensure the safety and reliability of critical mechanical systems.
  • Respond to Alarms and Emergencies: Respond to and make decisions for corrective action to all alarms received on the BAS, and respond to emergency calls during non-business hours.
  • Collaborate with Team Members: Collaborate with team members to develop and implement the site energy savings program, and participate in periodic reviews to ensure compliance with applicable safety regulations and Battelle energy conservation policy.
  • Stay Up-to-Date with Training and Certifications: Perform self-development activities sufficient to maintain craft specialty skills and certifications required to perform assigned tasks.
Requirements
  • Mechanical Aptitude and HVAC Knowledge: Must have mechanical aptitude and a working knowledge of HVAC systems and operations, including electrical, electronic, and pneumatic control equipment for large building laboratory automation systems.
  • Education and Experience: High school education; three years of related experience or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a related field.
  • Communication and Teamwork Skills: Excellent oral and written communication skills, good customer service skills, and ability to follow through and carry out assignments.
