The SAM Lead plays a crucial role in overseeing the Software Asset Management (SAM) initiatives within the organization. This position is essential for ensuring that software licensing practices are efficient and compliant with organizational standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the SAM team in conducting software license assessments and ensuring alignment with user requirements.
  • Monitor and report on the health of the SAM services, guiding daily operations and ongoing projects.
  • Foster relationships across various departments to enhance collaboration and streamline software management processes.
  • Develop and implement strategic objectives for the SAM department, ensuring alignment with the broader technology vision.
  • Create comprehensive documentation of SAM processes, policies, and procedures to maintain consistency and clarity.
  • Deliver impactful presentations to stakeholders, simplifying complex licensing models and metrics.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may arise across different functional areas.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of SAM processes and report findings to senior management.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and redesign.
  • Engage with key stakeholders to promote proactive software management.
  • Coordinate the creation of standardized work instructions across the software landscape.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure comprehensive software license and compliance management.
  • Analyze software license agreements to assess their implications for the organization.
  • Provide recommendations to leadership for enhancing SAM practices.
  • Support key SAM initiatives as defined by the organization.

Qualifications:

  • Strong analytical and logical thinking skills.
  • Proficient in IT business process analysis.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
  • Experience with leading SAM and IT Asset Management projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of licensing for major software vendors.
  • Familiarity with IT environments, including infrastructure and networking.
  • Understanding of software management tools and CMDBs.
  • Experience with Active Directory and user management.

Experience Required:

  • A minimum of 10-15 years in SAM and IT Asset Management.
  • Hands-on experience with top IT Asset Management tools.
  • Ability to interpret licensing terms and conditions effectively.
  • Educational background in Computer Science or Information Technology.
  • ITAM certification is preferred, with SAM certification being a plus.
