Job Summary

TravelCenters of America is seeking a skilled and customer-focused Lead Cashier to join our team. As a key member of our store team, you will be responsible for providing exceptional customer service, processing transactions, and maintaining a clean and well-stocked food and beverage area.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide excellent customer service, ensuring a positive experience for every guest
  • Process transactions efficiently and accurately, maintaining a high level of cash handling skills
  • Maintain a clean and well-stocked food and beverage area, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for customers
  • Order, receive, and unload product, stocking and rotating merchandise on planograms
  • Perform cycle counts to ensure inventory accuracy and perform end-of-day reporting, including register audits and safe counts
  • Assist with creating and managing the team's schedule, training lower-level cashiers on job duties and responsibilities
  • Prioritize work according to store and management needs, ensuring a smooth and efficient operation
  • Know and follow safety guidelines, reporting any potentially unsafe situations caused by team members or customers
  • Establish strong communication and rapport with leaders and co-workers, fostering a positive and collaborative team environment
Requirements:
  • 4+ years of cashier experience, with a strong focus on customer service and cash handling skills
  • Computer/POS knowledge required, with experience in register audits and safe counting a plus
  • Cash handling skills, with the ability to work accurately and efficiently in a fast-paced environment
  • Merchandising/stocking experience, with the ability to maintain a clean and well-stocked food and beverage area
  • Good verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with team members and customers
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays
