About the Role

As a Traveling Utility Locator with Telcom Construction Inc, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient installation of underground telecommunications infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities
  • Properly mark discovered utilities, completing any necessary documentation and photographing each locate
  • Correctly, safely, and efficiently locate the infrastructure placed by Company operations
  • Perform all phases of underground construction, including loading, driving, delivery, digging, removal, and placement of various types, sizes, and weights of construction materials and equipment
  • Hand dig using shovels and mechanical tools
  • Install and maintain underground telecommunications cabling
  • Operate or work around heavy equipment and machinery
  • Work in congested or remote areas
  • Maintain visual and audible contact with other crew members and all moving or stationary persons/vehicles/objects to ensure safe coordination of movement
  • Perform general construction work under the direction of a Foreman/Supervisor
  • Flagging, property, or worksite restoration
  • Maintain safe working habits/conditions according to all regulations, procedures, and policies
  • Set up safety perimeters using signage, cones, and safety barriers and at times flag traffic
Requirements
  • Must have a valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to operate various types of utility trucks and equipment in a safe manner
  • Basic knowledge of and ability to hand tools and equipment in a safe manner
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, etc.
  • Regular and timely attendance is an essential function of this position
  • May be required to work overtime; after hours; on weekends, for emergencies, or be on-call as needed to ensure work is completed
  • Extended travel is required throughout the Telcom footprint
