Job Summary

Liberty is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Vehicle Maintenance Supervisor to join our team. As a key member of our Transportation Department, you will be responsible for overseeing the maintenance and repair of our fleet of vehicles.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Supervise and Direct Work: Oversee the work of vehicle mechanics and ensure that all tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.
  2. Maintain Certifications: Obtain and maintain necessary certifications, including NYS DMV inspector certification for light and heavy vehicles.
  3. Purchase Requests: Obtain and maintain purchase requests for the Transportation Department and submit to the supervisor or business office as necessary.
  4. Vehicle Inspections: Perform NYS DMV inspections on Agency vehicles within the scope of certification and compliance.
  5. Vehicle Maintenance: Maintain and repair vehicle lifts, wheelchair securements, and other vehicle accessories.
  6. Driver Qualifications: Maintain Class B, CDL 19A qualifications to provide backup driver responsibilities as required.
  7. Safety and Maintenance: Maintain and monitor the shop and immediate work area in a safe manner, reporting any safety issues to the supervisor immediately.
  8. Personal Tools: Provide all personal hand tools required to perform the job.
  9. Department Budget: Participate in the development of the Department annual budget and Agency purchases of vehicles.
Requirements
  1. Education: High school diploma or GED required.
  2. Experience: Five years' experience in automotive repair and maintenance, with one year experience in a supervisory role in the automotive field preferred.
  3. Certifications: Possess or have the ability to obtain Class B license and DOT 19A qualified driver certification, as well as NYS DMV Inspectors Certification for light and heavy trucks and EPA Certification in air conditioning repair and maintenance.
  4. Language: Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language.
  5. Driver's License: Valid NYS Driver's License required.
