Job Summary:

The Prep Cook will be responsible for the preparation and setup of all ingredients and stations for kitchen operations. This includes preparing and portioning ingredients according to recipes and instructions provided by the culinary team, washing, peeling, chopping, and dicing vegetables, fruits, and other food items, and measuring and mixing ingredients for recipes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Food Preparation: Prepare and portion ingredients according to recipes and instructions provided by the culinary team.
  • Ingredient Setup: Set up workstations with necessary ingredients, utensils, and equipment before each shift.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Follow proper food handling and safety procedures, including storing ingredients at the correct temperatures, labeling, and FIFO.
  • Inventory Management: Assist in inventory management, including monitoring stock levels, reporting shortages, and organizing storage areas.
  • Cleanliness and Organization: Keep kitchen equipment and utensils clean and in good condition, and clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils to maintain a clean and organized kitchen.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate with other kitchen staff to ensure efficient workflow and timely service.

Requirements:

  • Previous Experience: Previous experience as a Prep Cook or in a similar role is preferred but not always required.
  • Culinary Skills: Basic knowledge of food preparation techniques and kitchen equipment.
  • Food Safety and Sanitation: Familiarity with proper food handling, storage, product identification, and sanitation procedures.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to follow recipes and instructions accurately, and communicate effectively with the culinary team.
  • Physical Demands: Physical stamina and dexterity to stand for extended periods, lift heavy pots and pans, and maneuver in a busy kitchen.
