Horticulture Professional Wanted:

The City of Aspen is seeking a highly qualified horticulture professional to join our team as a Seasonal Horticulturist. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining landscape installations, cultivating and propagating exotic and native plant species, providing proper maintenance of annual and perennial flower beds, and overseeing rain gardens, street bulb-outs, and bio retention ponds from a horticultural perspective. Additionally, you will assist with inventories, maintain documents for the floral program, lead daily operations of the floral crew, and communicate effectively with citizens and staff members.

As a key member of our horticulture team, you will work under the general supervision of the Field Supervisor (Horticulture/Parks Maintenance) and exercise leadership and supervision responsibilities through sound judgment, focusing on quality improvement, and managing and resolving conflict. You will also be responsible for fostering a culture of accountability, defining responsibilities and expectations by setting goals, and supervising, planning, coordinating, and scheduling daily activities of regular full-time and temporary staff to ensure coverage for departmental needs.
