We are seeking a skilled Nursing Assistant I to join our team in the Emergency Room Department at UNC Health. As a Nursing Assistant I, you will provide routine direct and indirect patient care in a hospital setting, working under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or physician.
Responsibilities- Assist physicians and other healthcare providers with routine examinations and procedures, as well as procurement of equipment and supplies during emergencies.
- Observe, collect, and document patient information obtained while providing care and promptly report significant changes in the patient's condition to a registered nurse or physician.
- Provide assistance to patients and their families during admission to the clinical area, orientation to the hospital experience, and discharge.
- Provide care/treatments to patients as outlined in the plan of care, including vital sign measurement, specimen collection, skin preps/scrubs, catheter care, and supportive patient interactions.
- Provide direct personal care to patients for routine activities of daily living, such as bathing, dressing, feeding, and assisting with mobility.
- Provide indirect care to patients and assigned areas, including cleaning the work area, changing linens, re-stocking supplies, and transporting patients/supplies/specimens.
- Currently licensed as a Nursing Assistant I by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Prefer six (6) months of nursing assistant experience.
- Fluent in verbal and written English language and able to develop basic computer skills.
This position qualifies for our Nursing Support Incentive Program, which includes $5,000 paid over a three (3) year commitment. Additionally, this position offers an extensive benefit package, including PTO hours, accrued based on the number of worked hours.
Work ScheduleThis is a 36 hours per week position, with variable shifts that will be discussed during interviews. Rotating weekends and holidays are required.
