MEP Superintendent Job Description

Gilbane Building Company is seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to lead our construction projects in the Atlanta and Columbus areas. As a key member of our project team, you will be responsible for ensuring that our projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Direct the day-to-day coordination of trade contractors and their sub-contractors to ensure high-quality work and adherence to project schedules.
  • Develop and communicate work plans, including changes made in the field, to ensure seamless project execution.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of contract documents to anticipate potential problems and ensure compliance.
  • Act as primary safety representative in the field, enforcing quality control policies and promoting a safe working environment.
  • Establish credibility among owners, trade contractors, and unions by maintaining a fair and trustworthy environment.
  • Lead contractor meetings, maintain daily reports, and document project progress using Procore.
  • Create and manage project schedules, implement contingency plans, and communicate schedule updates to the project team and trade contractors.
  • Plan, coordinate, and manage jobsite logistics, oversee project quality plans, and resolve jurisdictional disputes.

Requirements:

  • BS or MS degree in Engineering or Construction Management.
  • 5-10 years of experience in a superintendent role on commercial/industrial construction projects, with specific project background in mechanical, electrical, and plumbing trades.
  • Excellent technical and communication skills, strong organizational and problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in Microsoft Office and Procore.
  • Knowledge of construction safety processes, ability to create a safety-first culture, and OSHA 30-hour certification.
