Job Summary

As a Switcher at FedEx, you will be responsible for performing trailer switches, communicating with management and central control, and documenting trailer moves using the Yard Management System or switcher cards.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform trailer switches, including hooking and moving parked trailers from the yard to a load/unload door or hooking and moving trailers from a door to the yard.
  • Communicate with management and/or central control to coordinate trailer movements in the yard.
  • Document trailer moves using the Yard Management System (where available) or switcher cards.
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections on switcher equipment.
  • Understand and demonstrate effective yard switching safety processes and procedures.
  • Perform Package Handler essential functions, including loading and unloading packages and/or lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling packages.
Requirements
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet productivity standards.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull packages up to 70 pounds.
  • Ability to work in a warehouse environment with varying temperatures and noise levels.
