POSITION SUMMARY:
The Custodial Specialist is responsible for executing the daily operations of the Environmental Services Department, adhering to all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as the policies and procedures of American Health Partners.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
To successfully fulfill this role, the individual must effectively perform each essential duty, with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Understand and follow work schedules and assignments
  • Carry out specific cleaning tasks according to daily protocols
  • Maintain cleanliness in entryways, lobbies, and public restrooms, including:
    • Nurses' stations
    • Office spaces
    • Handrails
    • Door handles
    • Fire safety equipment
    • Air vents
    • Areas prone to dust accumulation
  • Thoroughly clean designated areas, ensuring a systematic approach and comprehensive results, including:
    • Doors and frames
    • Walls
    • Ceilings
    • Furniture in patient rooms
    • Windows and sills
    • Overhead lighting
    • Bed frames and rails
    • Exhaust vents
    • Any surfaces prone to dust
  • Sanitize dining areas, including tables, chairs, and equipment immediately after meals
  • Monitor the location of cleaning chemicals during tasks
  • Complete monthly cleaning assignments as per the posted schedule

ADDITIONAL DUTIES:
  • Restock dispensers for toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc.
  • Ensure workspaces are free from hazards, spills, and clutter
  • Dispose of waste properly and replace liners in trash receptacles
  • Set up safety signs before commencing cleaning tasks
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of work areas and equipment
  • Assist with lifting heavy items as required
  • Report low stock levels of cleaning supplies
  • Clean and maintain housekeeping equipment
  • Perform deep cleaning tasks and other duties as assigned by the supervisor
  • Before the end of the shift, verify all areas are in order and that cleaning carts are tidy
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Demonstrate respect for patients' rights and property
  • Participate in training and educational programs as required
  • Report incidents, hazardous conditions, or equipment issues to the supervisor promptly
  • Adhere to infection control and safety protocols
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding patient information
  • Handle lost and found items appropriately
  • Foster a positive and caring environment for patients
  • Complete necessary training successfully
  • Effectively manage multiple tasks

TECHNICAL SKILLS:
  • Familiarity with HRIS and scheduling software
  • Basic computer skills

EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals
