Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Diagnostic Medical Sonographer to join our team at UMass Memorial Health. As a key member of our Women's Services department, you will play a critical role in providing exceptional patient care and contributing to the delivery of high-quality healthcare services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform specialized procedures using ultrasound equipment, adhering to established guidelines and protocols.
  • Operate various types of ultrasound equipment, including portable units, to capture high-quality images and provide accurate diagnoses.
  • Collaborate with licensed independent practitioners and students to ensure seamless patient care and education.
  • Assist in the maintenance and upkeep of equipment and supplies, ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Provide exceptional patient care, including interviewing patients, explaining procedures, and positioning patients for optimal test results.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and statistics, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate test results to physicians, notifying them of any critical findings or patient risks.
Requirements
  • Specialized post-secondary training in diagnostic medical sonography.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS), with specific certifications in OB/GYN areas.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, prioritizing tasks and managing multiple responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with healthcare professionals and patients.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and statistics.
Working Conditions

This position requires work indoors in a normal patient care environment, with occasional rotation to other departments and locations. The successful candidate will be able to work effectively in a dynamic environment, adapting to changing priorities and responsibilities.
