Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Municipal Engineer to join our team at the Lexington Fayette Urban Co Government. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for managing public infrastructure projects and performing advanced level engineering duties.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage major projects involving preparation, review, and supervision of designs, specifications, plans, contracts, applications, estimates, and reports involved in the construction and operation of civil engineering work.
  • Perform field surveys, inspections, investigations, and/or evaluations to ensure compliance with regulations and standards.
  • Manage project funding, grants, invoices, and payments to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
  • Prepare for and attend Committee, Commission, Council, and other related meetings to discuss project progress and address stakeholder concerns.
  • Maintain communication with all internal and external stakeholders and respond to all requests and inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Supervise, train, and evaluate the work of subordinates and/or contractors to ensure high-quality project delivery.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in a related engineering field.
  • Six (6) years of engineering experience.
  • Additional years of related education may substitute for years of experience.
  • Valid Kentucky Professional Engineer License.
Special Requirements
  • May be subject to work weekends, Holidays, and callback duty.
  • In accordance with CAO Policy 23R, no employee who works in a Division with regulatory or civil enforcement authority over real property located in Fayette County shall acquire an interest in real property in Fayette County with any outstanding citation, notice or order from the Division in which he or she works.
