We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the position of Facility & Maintenance Coordinator

Job Description:

Overview

The Archdiocese of Seattle is committed to providing a safe and healthy environment for our staff, parishioners, and guests. As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in ensuring the upkeep and maintenance of our facilities.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Represent the parish when dealing with outside contractors in all major maintenance, construction, and minor renovation projects.
  • Establish work priorities with supervisor and provide training and work direction to helpers, volunteers, and/or janitorial firms or vendors.
  • Diagnose problems and do small repairs or call on parish volunteers to assist in good stewardship of buildings and grounds.
  • Assure preventive maintenance to buildings and grounds to minimize plumbing, mechanical, electrical, heating, and air conditioning system failures.
  • Directs the safety program and serves as a member of the Parish Safety Committee.
  • Keep the Safety Board current and up-to-date.
  • Attend Custodial, Safety, and Facilities trainings as directed and maintain a level of knowledge and skills required for this position.

Secondary Functions

  • Assure regular floor cleaning of the Church, Narthex, Hall, Kitchen, Classrooms, Lovett Hall, Parish Office, and other buildings and storage areas; assure order and neatness as appropriate.
  • Assure shrubbery and grounds are pruned, watered, and well kept.
  • Set up for scheduled Parish meetings, Faith Formation classes, Funerals, and Special events (chairs, tables, and other equipment); involve and coordinate volunteers in set-up and clean-up of large parish special events.
  • Supply and spot clean parish bathrooms as needed. Spot carpet cleaning—vacuum and spot removal. Change out light bulbs as needed. Empties garbage cans throughout the facility as needed.
  • Work with supervisor to assure attention to and completion of Annual/Monthly Maintenance Schedule. Which should include monthly cleaning and maintenance of Baptismal Font; monthly check and cleaning of kitchen and bathroom exhaust fan grills, outside storm drains, gutters, and downspouts.
  • Assure that Parish Hall and Lovett Hall Kitchens are clean after events and ready for next use.
  • Assure that buildings are secure when not in use.
  • Be available on-call 24 hours/day for emergencies.
  • Capable of effectively handling the physical demands of the job, which can involve pushing/lifting 50lbs, climbing ladders, constant bending and lifting, and working from knees or low to the floor.
  • Perform other duties as may be assigned.

At Holy Innocents

  • Oversee the ongoing maintenance of the building and grounds.
  • Maintain an inventory of cleaning supplies and hospitality supplies (kitchen, restroom, and others) and reorder as appropriate.
  • Identify outside contractors, vendors, and service providers and represent the parish when dealing with service providers.
  • Provide direct supervision to the custodian and volunteer mowers and gardeners.
  • Manage permits and inspections for the building.
  • Communicate any building maintenance needed with cost to the Pastor or delegate.
  • Assure necessary facilities-related support to all parish programs and special events.

Salary and Benefits

The estimated salary for this position is $65,000 - $80,000 per year, based on experience. A comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, life, accidental death and disability, long-term disability, pension, 403(b), HSA, FSA, and generous sick leave, vacation, and holidays, is also offered.
