Position Overview -

As a vital member of the Real Estate Tax Team, the ideal candidate will collaborate closely with tax staff accountants, fellow managers, and partners within the firm's Real Estate Services Group. This role requires a solid foundation in pass-through accounting and taxation, coupled with specialized expertise in tax compliance and consulting regulations. The Real Estate Tax Team emphasizes issues related to tax credit and tax incentive properties, including low-income housing, historic rehabilitation, New Markets, and Renewable Energy credits, along with Opportunity Zones. Familiarity with these topics is advantageous but not mandatory. Tax Managers are expected to deliver exceptional consulting, compliance, and project management services to our real estate clientele, while maintaining professionalism in addressing client needs and collaborating effectively within teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan, oversee, review, and finalize real estate tax assignments/tax returns for multiple clients, adhering to Hire Talent's Client Service Standards.
  • Leverage extensive knowledge of partnership taxation and regulations, particularly concerning tax credit real estate properties, including tax compliance and consulting.
  • Engage in and/or develop practice growth opportunities.
  • Identify opportunities for process and performance enhancements.
  • Assume project management responsibilities for various client groups, ensuring regular communication regarding tax compliance and consulting.
  • Conduct research on current tax compliance and consulting matters.
  • Collaborate closely with other real estate team members and client personnel.
  • Assist in organizing and leading periodic technical training sessions for the department.
  • Foster Team Member Development:
  • Inspire and earn respect from subordinates.
  • Contribute positively to the firm's recruitment, education, development, and retention initiatives.
  • Serve as a Mentor, Coach, and/or Career Advocate when assigned.
  • Provide Team Members with timely and constructive feedback to support the firm's performance management process.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field, CPA, or equivalent certification (required).
  • Strong technical proficiency, including effective use of technology and a commitment to ongoing learning in a tech-driven environment.
  • Minimum of 9 years of experience in pass-through taxation and compliance, including supervisory and review experience. Prior experience with pass-through entity tax credits is preferred but not essential.
  • Exceptional analytical and leadership capabilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and nurture the development of others.
  • Capacity to meet demanding client requirements and deadlines, while demonstrating strong communication, interpersonal, analytical, and research skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word and Excel required).
  • Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Strict adherence to professional ethics.
  • Ability to contribute effectively to the success of a strategic business unit within the firm.
Work Environment
  • Standard office hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. During peak tax season, hours may be more intensive.
  • Willingness to work additional hours as determined by workload and client expectations.
  • Travel requirements for this position will vary based on office location, ranging from minimal to monthly.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to navigate throughout the office.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull weights between 30-50 pounds.
  • Proficiency in English to communicate effectively with clients and team members.
