POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Cashier is responsible for executing cashiering tasks, which include processing cash transactions, verifying cash drawers, providing change, counting cash receipts, and completing cash reports. This role may also involve general food service responsibilities. Maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards in the service and dining areas is essential. The primary duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Confirm cash at the start of each shift.
• Operate the cash register, receiving payments from customers for goods or services and accurately recording amounts received.
• Calculate or re-calculate bills, itemized lists, and tickets showing amounts due using a cash register or adding machine, provide change, cash checks, and issue receipts or tickets to customers.
• Manage, organize, monitor, and maintain cash levels in the drawer.
• Prepare transaction reports, review totals shown on cash register tape, and verify against cash on hand.
• Process credit card transactions and be knowledgeable about the value and features of items for which payments are received.
• Issue cash refunds or credit memorandums for returned merchandise and operate ticket-dispensing machines.
• Complete customer purchases by scanning items or entering prices into the register accurately and efficiently.
• Perform additional tasks as directed by the Project Manager/Supervisor.
• Ensure all items are entered into cash registers and menu boards.
• Ensure the facility opens 15 minutes prior to meal service.
• Adhere to good sanitation practices.
• Secure the facility at the end of meal service.
• Comply with energy conservation and recycling initiatives.
• Follow all Food Handlers Safety protocols.
• Attend all training sessions related to allergy and foodborne illness prevention.
• Adhere to all HACCP policies and procedures.
• Report all accidents and injuries promptly.
• Follow all company safety and risk management policies and procedures.
• Participate in regular safety meetings, training, and hazard assessments.
• Attend designated training programs (both classroom and virtual).
• Complete and maintain any required security clearance and comply with the Drug-Free Workplace policy.
• Follow Operations Security (OPSEC) standard operating procedures.
• Adhere to the Property Control Plan for managing Government Furnished Property (GFP).
• Comply with safety and health programs that meet EM and applicable OSHA, DOD, Armed Forces Branch(s), and federal, state, and local safety, environmental, and health regulations.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS:
- Skills and Abilities:
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Strong decision-making and problem-solving skills under pressure.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational capabilities.
• Previous experience as a cashier is required.
• Must obtain ServSafe Food Handler Certification within 30 days of employment.
• Flexibility in work schedule is essential.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
• High school diploma or GED.
• Preferred: 1 year of experience using the ALOHA point of sale system.
Additional Qualifications:
• Ability to organize effectively, delegate tasks, solve problems quickly, and communicate clearly.
• Ambitious and goal-oriented with a strong drive to succeed.
• Effective time management skills and ability to handle both internal and external conflicts.
