Job Summary:

As an MRI/CT Tech Assistant at UPMC, you will play a vital role in supporting our team of technologists in providing exceptional patient care. Your primary responsibility will be to assist with the daily provision of MRI and CT services, ensuring that patients receive the highest level of care and comfort.

Key Responsibilities:

Meet patients as they arrive to the department and assist with paperwork preparation and documentation.
Answer phone calls regarding scheduling, questions, and patient history.
Escort patients to dressing areas and assist them as needed.
Conduct MRI screening according to established procedures to ensure safe scanning and entrance into the MRI scan room.
Assist with lifting and transferring patients to and from exam tables as needed.
Establish IV access according to established procedures.
Assist technologists in the preparation of oral contrast for patients and provide patient instructions as needed.
Properly pad, position, center, and align patients and MRI coils or CT tables for proper imaging according to established protocols.
Perform telemetry monitoring during exams as necessary and provide patient care support as needed.
Provide discharge instructions as directed by the technologist.
Report any equipment malfunctions to the technologist and supervisor.

Requirements:

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least one year of previous medical office experience.
Medical terminology and recent medical/imaging office experience preferred.
IV insertion experience preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal.
Act 33 with renewal.
Act 34 with renewal.
Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal.
