Job Summary:
The Physician and Surgeon will provide medical care to patients in a correctional facility under the general direction of the Chief Physician & Surgeon, Correctional Facility (CF). The ideal candidate will have a strong background in internal medicine or family practice and be able to work effectively in a correctional setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide medical assessments and treatment to assigned patients as appropriate and authorized by medical license
- Provide clinical consultation to midlevel providers and other staff
- Instruct nursing and other clinical staff on medical protocols and adhere to professional medical standards of care
- Perform on-call duties as assigned
Requirements:
- Possession of the legal requirements for the practice of medicine in California as determined by the Medical Board of California or the California Board of Osteopathic Examiners
- Possession of a valid internal medicine or family medicine Medical or Osteopathic Specialty Certificate issued by an American Medical Specialty Board or an American Osteopathic Specialty Board
- Ability to work effectively in a correctional setting
Working Conditions:
- Travel is required
