As a CNA with the Arizona Department of Veterans' Services (ADVS), your role will encompass providing essential nursing care and treatment services to our veterans. Your duties will include maintaining a safe, therapeutic, and hygienic environment, adhering to established protocols, and fostering a culture of veteran-centered care.

Your Contributions:

Assistance with Daily Activities: Your role as a CNA is vital in helping veterans with transfers, mobility, eating, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, and other daily living activities (ADLs). Your support can profoundly impact their quality of life. Medical Assistance: Aid nursing staff in performing treatments, post-surgical care, and other medical procedures. Monitoring Vital Signs: Observe and report on the physical and mental condition of veterans by taking vital signs and tracking health metrics. Documentation: Maintain accurate medical records and documentation, ensuring cleanliness and preparing simple reports. Meal Support: Assist veterans during mealtime by informing them of menu options, facilitating transportation to the dining area, and providing assistance with meals as needed. Emergency Assistance: Collaborate with licensed nurses during emergencies, following established protocols for effective response.

Qualifications:

Certification: Must hold an active certification as a Certified Nursing Assistant in Arizona. Background Check: A fingerprint clearance card issued by the Arizona Department of Public Safety is required. Experience: Preferred experience of 1+ years in a Skilled Nursing or Long-term Care environment. Skills and Knowledge: Familiarity with para-professional nursing practices, state regulations, medical equipment, and maintaining a safe and sanitary environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Assist veterans with transfers, mobility, eating, bathing, dressing, personal hygiene, and other daily living activities. Follow instructions to utilize simple procedures and devices to support veterans' mobility and flexibility. Support nursing staff with basic medical procedures such as administering treatments and post-surgical care. Monitor the physical and mental status of veterans by taking vital signs and tracking health metrics. Document medical records and maintain cleanliness in assigned areas. Facilitate dining experiences for veterans, including transporting them to the dining area and assisting with meal service. Respond to patient requests for assistance in a timely manner, adhering to the Resident Bill of Rights. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation in living areas. Assist licensed nurses in emergency situations, following established protocols. Perform additional duties as needed, including transporting veterans to appointments and clerical tasks. Engage in Arizona Management System (AMS) processes such as Huddle Boards and Success Tracking.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

Knowledge of: Principles and techniques of para-professional nursing care and relevant regulations. Skills in: Applying nursing practices, using medical equipment, and maintaining accurate medical records. Ability to: Build effective working relationships and implement Arizona Management System (AMS) methods.

Pre-Employment Requirements:

Current Negative TB skin test or a physician's statement of freedom from Tuberculosis. Ability to obtain and retain a fingerprint clearance card. Current or temporary CNA license in Arizona. Current CPR certification.
