Job Overview

Houston Engineering, Inc. is seeking a skilled Structural Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our structural engineering group, you will be responsible for designing and constructing complex structures, including bridges, dams, and hydraulic structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare detailed engineering analyses, schedules, and technical reports.
  • Design structural engineering projects with CAD designers.
  • Attend meetings and communicate with other civil engineering disciplines and outside consultants or agencies.
  • Manage contract administration, including writing, change requests, invoices, and progress payments.
  • Perform in-service safety inspections and load ratings of existing bridges.
  • Mentor and oversee the work of less experienced structural engineer team members.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in the design and construction of structures.
  • MN Professional Engineer license or the ability to obtain the license within 6 months required.
  • Experience operating MicroStation OpenRoads preferred.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Working knowledge of project team roles and responsibilities.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local codes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and appropriately with groups both internally and externally.
