Research Scientist/Engineer for Microsystems-based Medical Technologies

Job Description: We are seeking a highly skilled Research Scientist or Engineer to join our team at the Institute for Matter and Systems (IMS) at the Georgia Institute of Technology. The successful candidate will assist with activities related to the ACME POCT, including assisting with the annual solicitation for new technologies, meeting with inventors to determine roadblocks to translation and commercialization, attending regular meetings, and performing hands-on fabrication and characterization of medical devices in support of ACME-related companies using IMS facilities.
About the Job: This position is an open rank announcement, and the final job offer will be dependent on the candidate's qualifications in alignment with Research Faculty ranks as outlined in section 3.2.1 of the Georgia Tech Faculty Handbook. The successful candidate will have a master's degree in science, engineering, or a related area, and three years of relevant full-time experience after completion of that degree, or a doctoral degree. Additionally, the ideal candidate will have knowledge and hands-on experience in performing micro-/nano-fabrication and materials characterization, as well as knowledge and hands-on experience in the research, development, design, fabrication, and testing of microsystems-based medical technologies, including point-of-care technologies and lateral flow assays.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with activities related to the ACME POCT
- Collaborate with internal and external research groups to provide fabrication and characterization consultation, remote fabrication and characterization services, and data analysis with a focus on microsystems-based medical technologies
- Perform independent research, including writing proposals, raising research funding, interacting with sponsors, and publishing journal articles
- Coordinate with other IMS employees and users to assist in maintaining, operating, and upgrading the facility
Estimated Salary: $120,000 - $180,000 per year
