Materials Lead

Reporting to the Warehouse Supervisor, the Materials Lead position is responsible for guiding the efforts of team members and engaging in tasks related to the shipping, receiving, inspecting, storing, issuing, and delivering a diverse range of materials, equipment, and supplies. This role requires a high degree of autonomy in executing responsibilities with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversees the daily activities of team members.
  • Addresses complex work procedures and resolves inquiries from staff.
  • Maintains precise and current inventory records in the stockroom and during daily operations; completes necessary documentation.
  • Designs the stockroom layout and supervises the organization process to adhere to 5S standards.
  • Authorizes special orders within established guidelines.
  • Supervises and participates in the counting, weighing, and measuring of incoming or outgoing items to ensure accuracy against shipping documents.
  • Inspects incoming shipments for damages or discrepancies and communicates with suppliers to resolve issues; completes required forms.
  • Processes orders and distributes materials and supplies as requested; documents transactions, prepares requisitions, and calculates costs; maintains records of inventory.
  • Manages and participates in the procurement of various stock items, recommending adjustments to standard items or stock levels and placing orders using independent judgment within set parameters.
  • Determines shipping methods based on knowledge of procedures, routes, and rates; packages, weighs, and labels containers for shipment; prepares necessary shipping documents.
  • May utilize computerized or automated systems to perform tasks efficiently.
Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years of experience in materials management, including supervisory roles.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience.
  • Proficient in Excel, inventory management, and problem-solving.
