Job Title: Assistant Designer

Join American Eagle Outfitters as an Assistant Designer and contribute to the creation of high-quality, on-trend apparel, intimates, activewear, accessories, and personal care products.

About the Role:

We are seeking a talented and motivated Assistant Designer to support our Men's CAD team in all aspects of the product life cycle. As an Assistant Designer, you will be responsible for translating seasonal concepts and research into on-trend prints, novelty fabrics, and embellishments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain a library of seasonal prints and patterns
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners to promote clear communication, efficient process, and innovative product
  • Conduct design research and present clear inspiration for print direction
  • Assist with the preparation of presentation boards for seasonal, milestone meetings
  • Easily clean and color separate artworks and create repeats for both original and studio prints
  • Create colorways of prints with seasonal palettes to produce a cohesive collection
Requirements:
  • BA Degree in Design or Textile Design (or equivalent experience in CAD Design)
  • Must be New York based
  • 1-2 years of related print and pattern design experience
  • Experience with CAD systems (Kaledo) is a plus
  • Knowledge of repeat patterns, textile printing, yarn dye reproduction
  • Sense of color for the creation of colorways and the ability to match colors accurately
  • Knowledge of Adobe Illustrator and PhotoShop required
