Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Optometrist to join our team at Marlow Heights Medical Center. As an Optometrist, you will be responsible for examining patients with a full range of visual problems, diagnosing visual diseases, disorders, and deficiencies, and prescribing treatment according to the laws of the State of Maryland, District, or Commonwealth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive eye exams to diagnose and treat various eye conditions.
  • Prescribe and fit contact lenses to patients with vision problems.
  • Determine visual requirements of partially sighted patients and prescribe low-vision aids as needed.
  • Use diagnostic pharmaceutical agents to detect and diagnose ocular pathology, under the standing orders of a physician.
  • Consult with internal medicine, pediatrics, and ophthalmology on patient care issues.
  • Participate in departmental and educational meetings, including peer review activities.
Requirements
  • Graduation from an accredited school of Optometry.
  • Enrollment in PECOS within 90 days of hire date.
  • Optometrist License (Maryland) OR Optometrist License (Virginia) OR Optometrist License (District of Columbia).
  • Basic Life Support required at hire from American Heart Association.
  • National Provider Identifier required at hire.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an interdisciplinary health care environment preferred or successful completion of accredited residency program.
  • Accredited residency in Optometry preferred.
