Nursing Instructor

The Professional Nursing Educator will be responsible for providing instruction to students enrolled in nursing courses, participating in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of the nursing education program, and developing policies and procedures. This individual will also be responsible for maintaining office hours, teaching extended day classes, labs, and hybrid/online courses, and coordinating advisory committee meetings.
Key Responsibilities- Engage students in the learning process through active teaching methods
- Maintain professional behavior and adhere to policies and procedures
- Participate in college service, including committee work and advising students
- Teach classes during the fall, spring, and summer semesters, including online courses
- Travel to clinical agency sites and attend essential meetings
- Schedule may include day, evening, night, and/or weekend shifts
- Provide mentorship to dual credit partners/mentees
- Attend teaching and learning center sessions to enhance teaching skills
- Stay abreast of national matters and trends in education
- Assist in the development of curriculum as needed
- Verify student completion of course requirements
- Maintain knowledge of nurse educator and nursing student roles according to the Texas Board of Nursing
- Follow guidelines for supervising students and preceptors in the clinical area
- Counsel and advise students as needed
- Adhere to policies of the institution and the nursing program
- Master's degree in any subject along with a bachelor's in nursing from an approved or accredited baccalaureate program with at least six (6) graduate semester hours in nursing
- Current license or privilege to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Texas
- Three (3) years' experience in nursing
- Knowledge of teaching methodologies/pedagogical strategies
- Ability to work well in a team environment
- Knowledge of Texas Board of Nursing rules for nursing practice and nursing programs
- Knowledge of best practices for teaching and learning in nursing, including simulation
- Master's degree or higher in nursing
- Three (3) years' experience in nursing education
- Certified Nurse Educator
- Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator
