Are you passionate about enhancing the intelligence of Siri and Apple products for users? The Siri and Information Intelligence division is transforming how millions engage with their devices to access information.
We are an Applied Machine Learning team that is pushing the boundaries of question answering, assistant response optimization, and search technologies, while also managing a production service.
Our efforts are part of a broader initiative to empower information across various Apple products – including Siri, Spotlight, Safari, Messages, Lookup, and more.
As a member of our team, you will utilize and refine cutting-edge deep learning methodologies to comprehend queries, prioritize user intents, rank documents, and deliver valuable answers to users' inquiries.
Our team is accountable for training and deploying these models at scale, leveraging the latest advancements in online inference optimization.
Responsibilities:
As a vital member of our dynamic group, you will have the unique opportunity to influence future Apple products.
Our team comprises a diverse range of professionals, from applied scientists specializing in NLP to seasoned distributed systems engineers.
We seek candidates with hands-on machine learning experience and robust software engineering capabilities.
- Evaluating search ranking and relevance requirements, identifying issues and opportunities
- Employing PyTorch, TensorFlow, and JAX for the training and deployment of deep learning models
- Grasping product requirements and translating them into modeling and engineering tasks
- Developing machine-learned models for search relevance ranking, query comprehension, and inquiry processing
Experience in machine learning and deep learning, particularly in natural language processing and information retrieval.
Proficiency in one of the following programming languages:
Python, Go, Java, C++. Strong coding abilities and a solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and distributed system architecture.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and a proven ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively.
Strong practical skills and up-to-date knowledge of major machine learning algorithms.
Education & Experience:MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or a related discipline.

Compensation & Benefits:At Apple, base pay is one component of our total compensation package and is determined within a range.
This structure provides opportunities for advancement as you grow and develop within your role.
The base pay range for this position is between $166,600 and $296,300, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
Apple employees also have the chance to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.
Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if they voluntarily participate in Apple's Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
