Job Title: Transmission Line Design and Engineering Intern

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Transmission Line Design and Engineering Intern to join our team at Kiewit Corporation. As a Transmission Line Design and Engineering Intern, you will assist in the design and development of transmission line projects, including generating transmission line design criteria, creating bills of materials, and applying field mark-ups of project as-built drawings.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with project teams to create all design documents and drawings for a project.
  • Generate transmission line design criteria for PLS-CADD and create bills of materials.
  • Apply field mark-ups of project as-built drawings with minimal supervision.
  • Assist with the usage of engineering application software to complete engineering tasks.
  • Develop construction assembly drawings, material specifications, and structure loading packages for submittal to vendors.
  • Review project schedules and work with project engineers to ensure projects remain on schedule.
  • Properly use the document management system.
  • Apply corporate standard engineering practices.
  • Assist with project activities and communicate with project engineers, customer representatives, and others as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing a Bachelor degree in Civil Engineering or a related field from an accredited university.
  • 3.0 cumulative GPA preferred.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of AC/DC fundamentals, per-unit mathematics and symmetrical components, design documents and drawings necessary to complete a project, engineering standards including NEC, NESC, NEMA, IEEE and ANSI, and common Word processing, Spreadsheet, and E-mail software.
  • Working in a team environment and communicating effectively with co-workers, vendors, clients, etc.
