Job Summary:

The Registered Dental Hygienist at Kaiser Permanente directs oral hygiene care for members, providing comprehensive prevention, maintenance, and therapeutic dental treatment services. The RDH educates members on their oral status, motivating them to achieve and maintain optimum oral health.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide direct patient oral hygiene care, including comprehensive prevention, maintenance, and therapeutic dental treatment services.
  • Collect and document patient data related to oral health, adhering to policy and procedure.
  • Provide oral hygiene instruction and education to patients.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to environmental health and safety standards.
  • Support other office functions during downtime, fostering a positive work environment.
  • Perform other duties as requested by management.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program with a minimum of an associate's degree in applied science.
  • License: Dental Hygienist License (in the state where care is provided).
  • Basic Life Support Certification.
  • National Provider Identifier.
Additional Requirements:
  • Please note: WA Initial and Renewable Limited License are not acceptable.
  • Please note: Local anesthesia endorsement is for Oregon Dental Hygiene license only, this endorsement is included in the Washington State Dental Hygiene license.
  • X-ray equipment - Daily.
  • Ultrasonic scalers - Daily for deposit removal.
  • Handpieces - Daily for polishing teeth and fillings.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge of sterilization and infection control equipment.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Nitrous oxide permit.
  • Restorative function endorsement (Oregon Dental Hygiene license only - this endorsement is included in the Washington State Dental Hygiene license).
