Job Summary:

The Speech-Language Pathology Assistant will provide support to speech-language pathologists in planning and delivering speech-language pathology services to students with speech, voice, or language disorders. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of speech-language pathology principles and practices, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist speech-language pathologists in developing and implementing treatment plans for students with speech, voice, or language disorders.
  • Provide data to supervisors regarding student progress and maintain accurate records of student performance.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to plan and implement classroom activities to improve communication skills of students.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, students, and parents regarding the accomplishment of therapy goals and needs of the student.

Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in speech-language pathology or a related field.
  • Valid Texas license as a speech-language pathologist assistant granted by the State Board of Examiners for Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology (SBESLPA).
  • Minimum of 25 hours observation and 25 hours direct clinical service or ability to complete 50-hour requirements within three months of employment.

Working Conditions:
  • Regular districtwide travel to multiple work locations as assigned.
  • May be required to lift and transfer students to and from wheelchair or assist with positioning students with physical disabilities.
