RN Recovery Room Per Diem Varied

We are seeking a skilled Endoscopy Nurse to join our team at Hollywood Presbyterian. As a Per Diem Varied RN Recovery Room Endoscopy Nurse, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care in a fast-paced endoscopy setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan, direct, and coordinate patient care using the nursing process.
- Maintain current competencies and skill levels required for work/specialty area.
- Participate in quality and performance improvement programs.
- Orient and train assigned personnel and students.
- Provide direction to other members of the patient care team to coordinate all aspects of a nursing unit/department for assigned shift.
- Assess effectiveness of direction given and problem solve issues regarding patient care.
- Administer IV's and medications per protocol/policy, observing and documenting patient's response.
- Verify patients identify/ID band before treatments and procedures.
- Write initial nursing history, assess patient's conditions and develop and update individual plans of care for patients assigned to the unit/department.
- Demonstrate knowledge of moderate sedation agents, technique, and actions.
- Monitor physiologic, cognitive status of patients and timely report changes to physicians during procedures and/or other appropriate personnel.
- Properly demonstrate ability to recognize cardiac rhythms and to treat arrhythmias appropriately.
- Assist with admitting patients to endoscopy unit.
- Assemble necessary instruments, supplies and equipment prior to start each case.
- Assist in discharging patients form unit, when assigned.
- Assist in checking for availability and proper condition of necessary instruments, supplies, and equipment prior to start of every endoscopy procedures.
- Prepare for endoscopy and chart completed in timely manner.
- Participate in maintaining proper inventory levels of supplies.
- Demonstrate knowledge of age specific care, including but not limited to, identifying the need for additional safety measures, physiological normal values/readings; and assessing skin integrity, behavior, motor skills and/or activities that place patients at risk as well as communicates effectively in a clear, concise, understandable manner.
- Demonstrate effective team leader/charge nurse skills.
- Provide a safe, therapeutic environment for patient and families. Use patient restraints appropriately, documenting observations/interventions completely.
- Document in a clear, complete, legible, organized and timely manner, demonstrating skill in the nursing process and critical thinking. Monitor and ensure accuracy of recording on patient medical records. Maintain all required reports, records, statistics, etc.
- Identify and communicate problems regarding ethical issues that may surface between professionals and patients. Demonstrate respect for patient rights.
- Answer telephone in a prompt and courteous manner, addressing callers and patients appropriately by name and/or title.
- Perform efficiently in crisis and emergency situations, following established protocols, remaining calm, informing appropriate persons and documenting events.
- Demonstrate flexibility in the work setting with changing patient assignments, varying staffing levels and patient care environment and completes work on time.
- Demonstrate a clear understanding of all Washer sterilizer control measures.
- Perform leak test on all endoscopes prior to sterilization.
- Correctly load and unloads equipment in washer sterilizer.
- Perform all required duties for decontamination of equipment. Maintain log for sterilization cycles for all endoscopy equipment.
- Determine appropriate mode of sterilization/disinfection for all reusable endoscopy items.
- Perform and accurately document biological testing of all sterilizer.
- Meticulously inspect all equipment and instruments for proper function and cleanliness before storage.
- Label and report malfunctioning equipment to the appropriate person per established policy and procedures.
- Wash work area daily with disinfectant.
- Supports and adheres to established departmental policies and procedures, objectives, safety and infection control standards, including compliance with punctuality, overtime, floating, staffing/scheduling, body mechanics, TB screening, JACHO update, attendance, English language, ID badge, and dress code standards.
- Demonstrate dependability/flexibility in meeting scheduling needs of units and hospital.
- Verbalize and demonstrate the ability to obtain and interpret cardiac rhythms and the treatment of arrhythmias.
