Job Summary:
The Food Service Assistant is a vital member of our team at the Good Samaritan Society, responsible for ensuring the highest standards of food quality and safety in our facilities. As a key player in our dining services, you will be responsible for monitoring and recording the proper temperature of food, setting up and maintaining a clean and sanitized serving area, preparing and serving food items, restocking food areas, cleaning and sanitizing equipment, and receiving payment for food and beverages using a computerized register.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor and record proper temperature of food to ensure food safety and quality
- Set up and maintain a clean and sanitized serving area, including restocking food areas and cleaning equipment
- Prepare and serve food items, including operating equipment such as grills, beverage machines, toasters, and ice cream dispensers
- Receive payment for food and beverages using a computerized register
- Comply with Hazardous Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) guidelines for food service
- Provide outstanding customer service and effectively communicate with patrons and co-workers
- Maintain quality control standards and demonstrate ability to establish effective working relationships
Requirements:
- Minimum of 16 years of age
- Previous customer service experience, retail counting, and reconciliation of money
- Knowledge of food service and ability to read, write, and follow oral and written directions
- Ability to perform basic math and work independently when necessary
- On-the-job training will be provided
