Job SummaryWe are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Pediatric Inpatient Nurse to join our team. As a Pediatric Inpatient Nurse, you will be responsible for coordinating, implementing, and planning nursing care in a timely and accurate manner. You will work closely with our multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality patient care and ensure a positive patient experience.
Responsibilities- Perform comprehensive assessments on all patients within the appropriate time of admission, utilizing skills of observation, communication, and examination.
- Plan patient care on an individual basis, identifying problems/needs, nursing diagnosis, standards of care/practice, interventions consistent with identified problems, and attainable outcomes.
- Plan for patient teaching, discharge, and post-discharge needs as appropriate for the patient population.
- Function independently with treatments, procedures, and equipment appropriate to areas, evidenced by adherence to policy, procedure, and competency-based assessment, and no pattern or trend of problem.
- Handle, transport, store, prepare, and administer medications/solutions safely and in accordance with hospital and departmental policies and procedures.
- Document accurately and timely.
- Reassess patient's condition, evaluate patient response, and modify plan of care accordingly and in a timely manner.
- Accept charge responsibilities and assign staff with consideration of patient condition and care requirement, acuity, and/or facilitates staff development and complexity of patient's condition.
- Maintain a healing and therapeutic environment for the patient and family.
- Maintain position-specific qualifications.
- Demonstrate responsibility for assigned communications and special assignments.
- Maintain their work areas and personal appearance in a way that reflects our professionalism and demonstrates to our patients, visitors, and coworkers the importance we place on cleanliness, orderliness, and safety.
- Licensed by the State of Tennessee.
- Earned a nursing diploma or degree from a college or university.
- One year of pediatric ED or in-hospital experience preferred.
- BLS within 90 days of hire.
- PALS within six months of hire.
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) initial certification within one year of employment; certification required bi-annually.
The Pediatric Inpatient Nurse will work in a medical/surgical unit with a patient population ranging from less than one year of age to 21 years of age. The nurse will be required to work well under pressure, function dependently and independently, and be flexible in applying basic nursing knowledge to a variety of settings.
Physical Effort- Requires the ability to communicate in English orally and in writing.
- Requires prolonged standing and working for up to twelve hours a day.
- Constantly required to push/pull objects up to 175 lbs.
- Requires the ability to lift and turn patients with assistance up to 250 lbs.
