Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled Respiratory Therapist to join our team at SSM Health-St. Joseph Hospital-Lake St. Louis. As a Respiratory Therapist, you will be responsible for evaluating and caring for respiratory therapy patients, administering prescribed respiratory therapeutic services, and implementing and monitoring patient care plans.

Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate patients for appropriate type and frequency of treatment and develop a plan of care based on diagnosis.
  • Administer prescribed respiratory therapeutic services and implement and monitor patient care plans.
  • Monitor, record, and communicate patient condition, and perform advanced respiratory care modalities.
  • Evaluate respiratory practice, administration of medications, and treatment based on patient outcome.
  • Educate patients and families about health conditions and provide information about community support groups and other available programs.
  • Assist with care, calibration, and maintenance of all equipment, and participate in maintaining departmental inventory levels for supplies and equipment.
  • Respond to medical emergencies and rapid responses, and work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Requirements:
  • Associate's degree in Respiratory Care or equivalent years of experience and education.
  • Basic Life Support HealthCare Provider (BLS HCP) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Respiratory Care Practitioner certification from the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR), Missouri Division of Professional Registration, Oklahoma Medical Board, or Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
