Position Summary
The Corrugated Paper Production Operator Level I is tasked with managing the EcoRoll machinery to manufacture corrugated paper rolls and related products that align with PAC quality benchmarks. Shift Details: 2nd Shift, Monday - Friday, 3:00pm - 11:00pmCompensation: $24.75 per hour with an additional $2.10 shift differentialKey Responsibilities:- Comprehend machine operations, including unwind, blades, rollers, and web systems.
- Familiarize with materials utilized in production – paper varieties, starch adhesives, steam, etc.
- Grasp fundamental principles of corrugated paper production and perform basic troubleshooting and root cause analysis related to machinery and quality challenges.
- Execute job setup or changeover on machinery independently following established procedures.
- Conduct necessary machine power/startup, setup, changeovers, shift turnovers, and power down protocols with minimal supervision.
- Interpret and understand work orders.
- Accurately complete the "First Off Check Sheet".
- Produce items according to work order specifications.
- Label finished products correctly and ensure proper placement.
- Complete and affix roll tags.
- Maintain scrap levels within budget.
- Consistently and accurately enter production data into relevant computer systems.
- Ensure required inventory levels for the pull system are maintained.
- Stage rolls in designated areas.
- Be familiar with downstream converting machinery.
- Close work orders by removing job packets, placarding for partials, and removing materials.
- Identify emergency stops and safety-sensitive zones.
- Assist in maintenance of EcoRoll machinery, steam generators, and starch systems.
- Keep material boards accurate and updated.
- Maintain cleanliness according to 5S Handoff Audits.
- Adhere to safety protocols regarding equipment and tasks.
- Resolve routine technical issues independently.
- Understand raw material and finished goods part numbers.
- Conduct inventory counts.
- Perform other assigned duties as needed.
Qualifications:General Requirements:
- Ability to read work instructions.
- Adhere to safety regulations.
- Read and utilize a ruler and caliper.
- Adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Maintain good attendance.
- Willingness to cover shifts when necessary.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Minimum of 1 year of direct machine operation experience in corrugated paper production.
- Must be able to understand and read English with strong interpersonal skills.
- Competent in performing basic arithmetic operations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to use a computer for data entry and printing tasks is required.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Excel is preferred.
- Work involves using both hands and arms while standing for eight to twelve hours, with rotating weekends. Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, pushing, pulling, squatting, or kneeling is required. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist regularly.
- Primarily indoor work in a semi-climate controlled manufacturing setting.
