Job Summary

The Pharmacy Technician will provide technical assistance in the dispensing of prescribed medications and pharmaceutical preparations. This role is ideal for individuals who are detail-oriented, organized, and have excellent communication skills.

Key ResponsibilitiesAdministrative Functions
  • Retrieve and deliver inpatient medications orders and supplies.
  • Prepare unit-dose medications specific to patient needs.
  • Perform medications order entry into the pharmacy computer system.
  • Assist pharmacists in filling ambulatory prescriptions.
  • Assist in record keeping activities.
  • Maintain adequate drug inventories.
  • Compound bulk and extemporaneous pharmaceuticals.
  • Perform automated compounding repackaging and cart-fill.
  • Prepare sterile products utilizing aseptic technique.
  • Communicate effectively with other pharmacy employees and healthcare professionals.
  • Maintain a neat, clean, and organized work area.
  • Demonstrate flexibility in staffing assignments.
  • Adhere to internal controls established for the department.
Clinical Functions
  • Provide quality care to patients of DAP Health, within the scope of practice outlined by state or federal law.
  • Deliver care in accordance with established standards of care and accepted community standards.
  • Understand the organization's commitment to providing high-quality patient care and promote a patient-centered environment.
Strategic
  • Achieve DAP Health's vision, goals, and objectives for the department, aligning with the organizational strategic plan.
  • Communicate vision, goals, and objectives within the department and with other departments.
  • Maintain awareness of job responsibilities, challenges, barriers, and needs within the reporting line.
  • Contribute to department progress and maintain accountability, recommending and participating in department and/or personnel evaluation and improvement efforts as necessary.
  • Effectively collaborate with other departments to work toward shared goals and common vision.
  • Maintain awareness of how the department fits into the bigger organizational picture.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory and oversight requirements and ensure compliance.
Program
  • Maintain awareness of organizational hierarchy, systems, and processes, and participate in process improvement initiatives as necessary.
  • Represent DAP Health internally and externally.
  • Presents and pursues opportunities for further organizational development and growth.
  • Acknowledge role in productivity and quality improvement.
  • Ensure adherence to department policies and procedures, and adhere to appropriate organization-wide implementation processes.

Qualifications
  • Diploma from an approved High School or GED Equivalent.
  • California State Board of Pharmacy Registration.
  • Education/certificate to attain License.
  • Current and Valid CPR and First Aide certification.
