Job Description

As a Class A CDL driver with Decker, you will operate regionally, pulling 48 ft. flatbed trailers. This home-weekly position offers a unique blend of independence and stability, with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate a 2020-2024 Peterbilt 579, Volvo, or Freightliner Cascadia, governed at 65 mph or 68 mph on cruise control
  • Pull 48 ft. flatbed trailers, primarily hauling wallboard, coils, lumber, and steel building products
  • Ensure 100% on-time delivery, with no load refusals or driver service failures
  • Meet minimum pay criteria, including being available for dispatch 5 days a week and turning in paperwork by weekly cutoff
Benefits

Decker offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), EAP, life insurance, and more. Benefits are available the first of the month after 60 days of employment.

Pay and Bonus Opportunities
  • Average miles: 2,000-2,200 per week
  • Pay increases: $.01 at 90 days, then $.01 increase annually on anniversary date until cap of $.70 cpm
  • Monthly bonus: up to $.05 cpm per month
  • Per diem: $.10 cpm for all drivers
  • Military pay: drivers who are currently serving or have served within the past 24 months receive a pay increase of $.01 or $.02 cpm
  • Tarp/secure pay: $50 total, with $25 for tarping/securing and $25 for untarping/unsecuring
  • Stop pay: $15.00 per pickup and delivery, except load origin and final delivery
  • Detention pay: $20/hour for on-time delivery detention, capped at $200 each 24 hour period
  • Layover pay: 24 hours of layover = $75, subsequent 24-hour periods = $100
  • Breakdown pay: $100 for 1st day, $150 for 2nd day, $200 for 3rd+ days
  • Chicago cross-town loads: $40 plus mileage
Equipment and Amenities

Decker's fleet consists of 2020-2024 Peterbilt 579, Volvo, or Freightliner Cascadia trucks, equipped with APU, 1,800-watt inverter, free Wi-Fi, smart TV with satellite programming, microwave, refrigerator, CB radio, and satellite radio hook-ups.

Orientation and Onboarding

Decker offers a comprehensive orientation program, including $500 after completion of orientation. The training schedule is 4 weeks total: 1 week in orientation, 3 weeks with an OTR trainer. Tuition reimbursement up to $6,000 is also available.

Requirements
  • CDL A license
  • 6 months of experience
  • Pass a physical exam within the last 6 months
  • Pass a pre-employment urinalysis and hair follicle drug test
Location and Length

Decker's orientation is located in Fort Dodge, IA, and lasts for 3 days. Traveling to orientation is reimbursed or a rental vehicle is provided.
