Job Summary:
The Town of Amherst is seeking a reliable and patient Van Driver to provide transportation services to older adults and individuals with disabilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for safely operating a paratransit van, adhering to a daily dispatching schedule, and communicating effectively with the Senior Center Director and staff.

Key Responsibilities:
• Safely transport clients to medical appointments, shopping, and other destinations
• Attend required training on safety driving, wheelchair securement, and CPR
• Follow a daily van dispatching schedule and respond to demand response phone calls
• Provide transportation for special trips, such as grocery shopping and social events
• Maintain accurate electronic records of rides given to clients and demographic information collected
• Communicate effectively with Senior Center staff regarding transportation needs and issues

Requirements:
• Valid driver's license and ability to drive an eight-passenger paratransit van
• Ability to interact well with others, be patient, and dependable
• Ability to pass a CORI and SORI check and motor vehicle driver record check

Tools and Equipment Used:
• Eight-passenger paratransit van with wheelchair seats and lift

Physical Demands:
• The physical demands of this job include sitting, talking, and hearing, with occasional walking, reaching, and lifting up to 25 pounds
