Laser Furnace Specialist Wanted

We are seeking a skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team at Limelight Steel in Oakland, CA. As a laser furnace specialist, you will be responsible for leading the mechanical design, fabrication, testing, and integration of key laser furnace sub-systems, including iron ore particle feeding, melt holder, insulation, metal and slag removal.

You will create detailed CAD models & drawings, process flow diagrams, and piping & instrumentation diagrams, and interface with external manufacturers, vendors, and machine shops to procure and fabricate components. You will also help build out in-house machining capabilities for quick turnaround needs.

A strong understanding of heat and mass transfer, fluid mechanics, and solid mechanics is essential for this role, as well as hands-on experience designing, building, and troubleshooting prototypes and industrial equipment. A competitive salary is offered for this position, estimated at $140,000 - $180,000 per year, based on location and experience.
