Position Overview

The primary role of the Nuclear Pharmacy Technician I is to support the licensed pharmacist and the senior technician in the daily operations of the pharmacy, including engaging with customers and addressing inquiries from healthcare professionals. As an entry-level technician, you will be trained in essential tasks related to the preparation of facilities and equipment, which encompasses cleaning protocols, inventory oversight, and adherence to legal requirements for task execution. This position is integral to ensuring quality assurance, functional assessments, and participation in the dispensing workflow. Additionally, responsibilities include assisting in order management, data entry, and other necessary tasks as assigned.

Work Schedule

Full-time commitment of 40 hours weekly Standard hours are from 1:00 AM to 9:00 AM, with potential variations during training. Involves Saturday shifts on a rotational basis (every fifth week) and holiday work. Flexibility in scheduling is essential, including the ability to adjust to different shifts, extended hours, or overtime as needed.

Key Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of a licensed Staff Pharmacist, you will be trained to prepare, dispense, and package radiopharmaceuticals in compliance with regulatory standards. Your duties will include:

Compiling prescriptions by generating labels and securing approval from the Staff Pharmacist. Drawing doses into syringes or vials as required. Conducting quality assurance evaluations on instruments and radiopharmaceuticals in alignment with Federal, State, and Company regulations. Receiving, documenting, and appropriately storing incoming and outgoing pharmaceuticals per Department of Transportation and Company protocols. Maintaining computerized inventory and records to ensure effective material usage and accurate Rx drug accounting. Assisting in the labeling of blood cell products. Performing general cleaning and maintenance of laboratory and facility areas. May involve clerical tasks such as maintaining daily logs, preparing receipts, generating reports, and managing billing records. Delivering products to clients using company vehicles as necessary. Engaging with customers to address inquiries and concerns via phone. All work is closely monitored for accuracy, with any deviations requiring supervisor approval before proceeding.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent experience is preferred. Must possess or be able to obtain a MO State Pharmacy Technician license. Previous experience in a pharmacy technician role is advantageous. Experience with IV procedures is a plus. A valid driver's license with a clean driving record is necessary. Candidates must be at least 18 years old due to vehicle operation requirements. Ability to lift items weighing up to 65 lbs. Strong verbal and written communication capabilities. Excellent customer service skills. Willingness to work various shifts is preferred. Comfort with repetitive tasks and working in a nuclear environment. Availability to work weekends and holidays as needed. Capacity to work overtime with minimal notice. Demonstrated proficiency with technology, including computers and mobile devices.
