Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and safety-conscious Class C Driver to join our team at Clear Creek ISD. As a key member of our transportation department, you will be responsible for safely transporting students to and from school, while also serving as a standby bus monitor when not driving.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport students to and from school in a white fleet vehicle, adhering to established schedules and observing all traffic laws and safety regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records necessary for local and state reporting.
  • Responsible for preventive care of assigned automobiles, including keeping vehicle clean and fueled.
  • Maintain current route maps and folders, and submit updated copies to Operations.
  • Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections before and after each run, and submit work orders for needed repairs.
  • Provide emergency assistance to special needs students as needed.
  • Identify by name all of the students who ride the bus.
  • Maintain up-to-date seating charts for all assigned runs.
  • Demonstrate bus evacuation to students on bus as needed.
  • Report all accidents, vehicle damage, and student injuries, and complete required reports as needed.
Requirements
  • Texas Class C driver's license plus 2 years' experience driving an automobile.
  • Successful completion of behind-the-wheel training.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in English.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in written form with all levels of management both internal and external.
  • Knowledge of student discipline procedure.
  • Ability to manage student behavior.
  • Ability to operate all types of automobiles in the CCISD Fleet in a safe and effective manner.
  • Acceptable motor vehicle record.
  • Ability to evacuate students in the event of an accident/emergency.
  • Ability to manage students in a safe and appropriate transportation environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parents and students.
  • Be able to maintain confidentiality of all records.
  • Must like and have a genuine concern for the safety of children and young adults.
  • Must safely fit behind the steering wheel of all CCISD vehicles without obstructing the movement of the steering wheel.
  • Must maintain student records, behavior, and passenger confidentiality to comply with the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA).
Working Conditions
  • Mental maturity and emotional stability to operate vehicle safely with distractions from sometimes loud and boisterous students.
  • Ability to maintain emotional control under stress.
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors
  • Occasional district travel.
  • Occasional prolonged and irregular hours.
  • Moderate walking, carrying, bending, climbing, lifting, kneeling, pulling, pushing, and reaching.
  • Required to use a Bio-Kit and may be exposed to bodily fluids and other contagions.
  • Exposure to extreme weather conditions and fluctuations in temperature.
