Nurse Specialist

The Registered Nurse is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing high-quality nursing care to individuals with developmental disabilities. This role requires a strong commitment to patient-centered care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals.
Key Responsibilities:- Assess and monitor the medical needs of individuals in our care, providing routine and emergency nursing care as needed.
- Complete all required documentation and reports, adhering to program regulations and standards.
- Provide nursing and medical in-services to employees, ensuring they have the necessary knowledge and skills to provide high-quality care.
- Collaborate with physicians and nurse practitioners to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Train and supervise Licensed Practical Nurses and AMAPs, ensuring they have the necessary skills and knowledge to provide safe and effective care.
- Review and act on incident reports, ensuring that all necessary steps are taken to prevent future incidents.
- Provide on-call telephone coverage, maintaining up-to-date records of all calls received and recommendations provided.
- Transport and attend medical appointments for individuals in our care, as needed.
- Valid NYS License and current registration as a Registered Nurse.
- AAS Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Minimum 1-3 years' experience in working with people with developmental disabilities, preferred.
- Must have a valid NYS Driver's License, as travel is required.
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant.
The Registered Nurse will work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, providing care to individuals with diverse needs and abilities. The ideal candidate will be able to work effectively in a team setting, communicate clearly and respectfully with individuals and families, and maintain confidentiality and discretion when handling sensitive information.
