Compensation: $32.77 per hour
Role Summary:
The EEG Technician plays a crucial role in conducting electroencephalogram tests. This includes preparing patients, executing tests, and analyzing results for potential neurological disorders. Additionally, the Technician is responsible for the upkeep of EEG equipment and documenting any issues that arise.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize an electroencephalograph to capture electrical activity and variations across different brain regions.
- Employ doppler techniques to gather audio signals and velocity waveforms from the ocular artery for diagnostic analysis.
- Utilize a TECA Computerized analyzer to assess auditory, visual, and somatosensory responses, aiding in the diagnosis of neurological conditions.
- Analyze EEG tracings to identify brain wave abnormalities and distinguish between genuine signals and interference.
- Prepare patients for testing by strategically placing electrodes on the head and body, as well as positioning probes near the eyes.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- EEG Certification required.
- Completion of 3 months of formal training in a neurology lab; 3-6 months of apprenticeship training is acceptable.
- Familiarity with EEG machinery and equipment is essential.
- Prior experience as an EEG Technician in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Understanding of Neuroanatomy is advantageous.
