The Registered Nurse plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive nursing care to patients in a medical unit.
This role involves overseeing the treatment and services provided by LPNs, CNAs, and other healthcare professionals during assigned shifts.
Key Responsibilities:- Develop, implement, and assess individualized care plans for each patient.
- Conduct ongoing assessments of patient status, ensuring all relevant information is accurately documented.
- Ensure that nursing treatment plans are tailored to the specific needs identified during assessments, with initial plans completed upon patient admission.
- Receive and accurately document physician's orders, ensuring clarity and compliance with established protocols.
- Administer medications as prescribed, maintaining precise records of controlled substances and adjusting medications under the supervision of a physician as necessary.
- Supervise the self-administration of medications, employing safety measures for patient identification and documenting effects of both scheduled and PRN medications.
- Engage with interdisciplinary teams, including nurses, therapists, and program managers, to ensure optimal patient care.
- Participate in unit activities such as therapy groups and family meetings to support patient engagement.
- Provide education to patients and their families regarding medication management, potential side effects, and patient rights.
- Ensure thorough documentation for all patients during each shift, completing daily assignment sheets and carrying out assigned tasks.
- Deliver comprehensive reports to incoming staff and supervisors to ensure continuity of care.
- Graduation from an accredited nursing program.
- Preferred: One or more years of nursing experience in a clinical setting.
- Preferred: Experience in behavioral health, psychiatric, or addiction recovery environments.
- Certification in Psychiatric Nursing is a plus.
