Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Radiology Technician PRN to join our team at SSM Health. As a Radiology Technician PRN, you will be responsible for taking x-rays of designated parts of the human body for diagnostic purposes and providing support for the imaging department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Explain procedures to patients to ensure understanding and provide educational materials.
  • Transport patients to and from clinical areas, verify patient identity, and assist technologists with preparing patients for radiology exams.
  • Assist with filing, delivering, and retrieving patient reports and charts, matching films to folders, and delivering reports to patient units/physicians.
  • Follow radiation safety procedures and guidelines to prevent unnecessary radiation exposure.
  • Prepare and administer contrast media and medications within the accepted scope of practice and applicable state and federal regulations.
  • Observe patients during procedures, report abnormal activity, and monitor protocols for updates or refinements.
  • Ensure prompt submission of high-quality images and documents to PACS, including correct lead markers and patient data/history.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly department, including procedure rooms, storage areas, dressing rooms, film storage areas, and other areas.
  • May perform limited CT procedures in emergent situations when a CT Technologist is not on site.
  • Work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or completion of a radiology certification program.
  • One year of experience.
Physical Requirements
  • Constant standing and walking.
  • Frequent use of vision and depth perception for distances near and far.
  • Frequent use of hearing and speech to share information through oral communication.
  • Frequent use of hearing to distinguish body sounds and/or hear alarms, malfunctioning machinery, etc.
  • Frequent lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 0-25 lbs.
  • Frequent lifting/moving of patients.
  • Frequent reaching, gripping, and keyboard use/data entry.
  • Occasional lifting/carrying and pushing/pulling objects weighing 25-50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of vision to identify and distinguish colors.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and repetitive foot/leg and hand/arm movements.
  • Rare kneeling and sitting.
Professional Licenses and Certifications
  • Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (BLS HCP) - American Heart Association (AHA).
  • Radiographer, Licensed - Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services.
  • ARRT-R Radiography - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT).
