Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Clinical Care Specialist - Advanced Practice to join our team at the Illinois Bone and Joint Institute LLC.

Job Description

This is an advanced practice role that involves delivering high-quality patient care in a clinical setting. The successful candidate will function under the supervision of a physician and perform various activities such as initial evaluations, treatments, and administrative tasks.

Responsibilities
  • Secure patient histories and physicals, recording them in medical records.
  • Assist surgeons with daily rounds and progress notes.
  • Ensure timely delivery of patient x-rays to the operating room.
  • Participate in surgical procedures, positioning, prepping, and draping patients as needed.
  • Closure of surgical wounds, post-operative wound care, and removal of K-wires.
  • Transmit orders from supervising surgeons and obtain co-signature.
  • Insert foley catheters, apply dressings, casts, splints, and other required items.
  • Engage in on-call activities with assigned physicians according to Medical Center policy.
  • Perform minor surgical procedures within scope of licensure.
  • Collaborate with patients in traction, adjustment, realignment, and removal of traction.
  • Dictate H&Ps, consultations, and discharge summaries.
Clinic Activities
  • Perform joint aspirations/injections.
  • Interpret x-rays.
  • Apply casts, splints, and braces under physician supervision.
  • Secure histories and physicals, update status of patients scheduled for recheck visits.
  • Remove staples, sutures, drains, and other medical devices.
  • See patients independently or with supervision in the clinic, dictating progress notes.
  • Order appropriate tests and develop patient treatment plans with physician approval.
Other Functions
  • Contribute to clinical research, presentations, and academic activities with physicians.
  • Assist in fielding/triaging physician calls.
RequirementsPhysical Requirements/Environment
  • Ongoing exposure to electrical and chemical hazards.
  • Lifting associated with patient transfers (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Ability to bend and stoop without difficulty.
  • Exposure to blood-borne pathogens.
  • Effective verbal/written communication ability in English.
  • Exposure to weather elements and travel to all associated hospitals and/or HOA facilities.
Educational/Training Requirements
  • Master of Science in Nursing, Nurse Practitioner Program.
  • Active licensure as Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner in Illinois.
  • ACLS desirable; current CPR required.
  • History of competence, judgment, and professional integrity.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Compensation

The estimated annual salary range for this position is $85,000-$110,000 based on experience and qualifications.
