Job Summary

This is a regular, non-exempt position responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and organization of Indian River State College facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a variety of tasks related to cleaning, maintenance, and upkeep of buildings, classrooms, and public areas.

Key Responsibilities
  • Cleaning and minor maintenance of buildings, including classrooms, hallways, stairwells, restrooms, and other areas.
  • Performing tasks such as sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, emptying trash, and cleaning windows.
  • Operating cleaning equipment and machinery, such as buffers, floor polishers, and extractors.
  • Providing assistance and directions to faculty and students regarding campus and classroom locations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the Director of Physical Plant/Maintenance.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's degree preferred.
  • Valid Florida driver's license required.
  • Ability to lift, bend, and stand for extended periods; ability to operate cleaning equipment and machinery.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions. The employee must be able to work independently and as part of a team. The position also requires the ability to work in a variety of environments, including classrooms, hallways, and public areas.
